I really don’t like to waste my time doing nothing just waiting for my order to be served. At Sulyap, you can first order the food that you want and then go to the gallery for sightseeing. They will call you if the food is ready. So we ordered our food and proceeded to the gallery.
I can’t help but compare Vigan’s ancestral houses to the building that houses the Sulyap Gallery. It was very similar. The edifice truly captured what really a Spanish ancestral house is. From this kind of architecture, I think this gives the complex a romantic ambiance where in couples could spend their time together.
Aside from the Spanish inspired design, the gallery gives as a closer look of our good olden days. It offers a wide range of collections ranging from dining sets, vase, chandeliers, paintings, even old radios. Someone was assigned to assist us in our tour in the gallery. Asking questions to the guide was no problem. He is knowledgeable and answered our questions about the antiques displayed. Also, vintage motorcycles and a car, a well-maintained Volkswagen, are can be ridden to take pictures – a wonderful souvenir.
Exactly as we finished the tour, we were told that our food was ready. We were drooling when we saw the food. The presentation was beautiful and very fine-looking; it made the food more appetizing. The presentation did not fool us; the food indeed was very mouth-watering. The food was really a fusion between Filipino and Spanish cuisine. Excellent service is one thing I commend about Sulyap’s people. They were very warm, responded quickly and you can see their gladness to serve.
Sulyap Cafe is a really great destination; it is a cross point of Filipino and Spanish lifestyle. Take time to visit it when you go to San Pablo and have a glimpse of the past.
