Before LakePandin became an eco-tourism spot, the locals that entertained us in the tour lived around the lake. With houses all over, the lake became a massive fishing pond and den of garbage and fish pens. Concerned citizens like Mandy Marino eventually tried to talk some sense out of the fisher folks and asked them to stop exploiting the lake. Afraid to lose their livelihood, the residents were apprehensive at first that it even took them one year to finally decided to restore the lake back to its natural splendor. With the help of private individuals, they set up a cooperative which was in charge of overseeing the tourism efforts of the area. Little by little, they began to relocate, minimize their fishing activities and find other means of earning by boasting the marvelous beauty of their lake. The locals realized the importance of maintaining the beauty of the lake and from then on, they seriously took care of the lake not just because they have to but because they really cared for it.Here are photos of Lake Pandin
